You will see them anywhere, anytime.

Most go unnoticed unless you’re looking for them. Night or day, through every season – there they are. Solitary and motionless. Tongues still, never uttering a sound.

Some are clean and seem out of place, obviously new arrivals. Others are worn and grubby, old timers with years of experience; perhaps once well-heeled but now worn down by life on the street.

They’ll let you kick them or run over them with your car. Without complaint. They’ll let storms drench them, hailstones batter them, scorching sunshine bleach them and roast them. Without complaint.

Children will throw them under bushes, onto roofs and into drains. Dogs and lawn mowers will chew them up and spit them out without thought. Although they do not heel, they endure. Without complaint.

Friendless and alone, they are the Lonely Shoes.

For the Lonely Shoes of Australia, we have a message of hope. Somewhere out there in this big, beautiful country of ours, is another Lonely Shoe just waiting for you.
